Tunnel Connecting Commuter Rail & Subway Now Open At North Station
Boston, MA - In the middle of winter, a disjointed transfer between the commuter rail and subway lines can mean freezing while walking through snow, slipping on hard ice, or fleeing the inevitable yeti attack. This will no longer be the reality for those traveling through North Station, as a new tunnel has been opened to better streamline commutes in the Boston Area.
This new tunnel joins the Commuter Rail platform to the Orange & Green Lines via a comfortable indoor user experience. At least, that's the hope. Some noted that the new transfer path is only a small route, wide enough for about four people shoulder-to-shoulder for now.
This upgrade is a part of a larger remodeling plan of the area around TD Garden, which may mean a further improvement to North Station over time.
