Falmouth, MA - On Monday afternoon, February 18, 2019, a group of protesters gathered on the Village Green in Falmouth, Massachusetts to protest President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico. One snowplow driver was not pleased with the group's decision to protest this presidential action.
The group of protesters were standing outside in the town common when a plow drove by, hitting them with snow. Those interviewed said that the plow had sprayed them with ice and snow slush.
Many of the protesters came forward to provide statements to WCVB. Zack Uljua stated that the snow plow driver put his plow down right as he approached the group of protesters, which to Uljua looked like an intentional attempt to hit them with the cold snow.
Sandra Faiman-Silva witnessed "mucky water" and snow hit several people standing on the Village Green. She also stated that people had thought the snow plow driver was being extremely aggressive while operating the vehicle.
Christine Uljua stated that a reasonable and professional plow driver would have never acted the way this plow driver did.
According to the Falmouth Police Department, the snow plow driver was identified as John Pimental, age 31, a resident of Mashpee. A court date has not yet been set for him, but officials have stated that he will be summoned to court. So far, he has been charged with disorderly conduct and assault to the protesters standing on the Village Green yesterday afternoon.
No one involved in the incident was harmed. The snow plow did not crash into anything or anyone. The snow plow driver, Pimental, was not working for anyone at that time; he is the private owner of his vehicle.
