BOSTON - Valentine's Day is just over a week away and for all the New Englanders who are curious about how to make the day special for their significant others, be curious no more! Fortunately, we live in New England, which just so happens to be one of the top destinations in the world for all things romance. Don't believe me? You don't have to. My claims are supported by a number of surveys that have recently positioned our region as one of the best for love. Valentine's Day never seemed more accessible!

To begin with, OpenTable recently released its list of the nation's 100 most romantic restaurants. The list is an annual tradition as many local eateries consistently strive to have their ambient dining locations place in the rankings. This year, two restaurants from Boston managed to find their way onto the list and it might not be a coincidence that they both primarily serve Italian food. After all, the Italian culture, especially its food, is often considered quite romantic.

Sorellina is a modern spin on classic Italian cuisine and it is located in the Back Bay of Boston. With OpenTable boasting a rating of Sorellina at 4.8 stars, it was a no brainer that it would be included on the list.

The other Boston restaurant featured is the North End's Mamma Maria, which also rated as a 4.8 on the OpenTable judging system. Mamma Maria, however, happened to have roughly 600 more reviews than Sorellina's did, which is why it is technically rated a bit higher. Mamma Maria is more of a classic take on Italian dishes, but there is no denying that the environment is exceedingly romantic.

Valentine's Day is not only about where you go to get dinner. It's also about trying to craft the perfect getaway for you and your loved one. And when it comes to the list of the 50 most romantic getaways in the entire world, there happens to be one right in our backyard.

Travel and Leisure officially proclaimed Maine to be a romantic spot to vacation to, with its numerous hotels of quaintness and a series of must-see spots, like lighthouses and outdoor parks. Both of which are great for romance.

It's a lot easier to travel to Maine, however, then it probably is to try to get a reservation at Sorellina and Mamma Maria for a romantic holiday that's just nine days away!
