BOSTON – When it was announced four years ago that Adam Sandler, the star of such comedy hits as Happy Gilmore and 50 First Dates, signed a multi-picture deal with Netflix to produce comedy movies exclusively for the streaming service, many believed that he would base his film production in New England.

A native of New Hampshire, Sandler is known for sticking to the region to film a number of his movies, including 2010's hit Grown Ups, which filmed at the famous Water Wizz aquatic park.

Recently, Sandler has been filming a new movie in Massachusetts. His upcoming Netflix movie, Hubie Halloween, has done much of its filming in Salem, Massachusetts, which presumably fits with the spooky theme of the movie. Of course, it would not be a Sandler movie either without his rotating cast of co-stars who appear in most of his films.

From Dan Patrick to Allen Covert to Rob Schneider, familiar faces always pop up in his films. Shaquille O'Neal, the former NBA legend who had a stint with the Boston Celtics, has also appeared in comedies with Sandler like Blended and Grown Ups 2. Per Sandler's Instagram, the pair were filming scenes together for the new movie in Salem just a day ahead of the film's official wrap.

With the Big Aristotle sticking around Massachusetts, O'Neal decided to show the New England natives that he can do it all. Known as DJ Diesel, Shaq has performed at many high-profile music events in the past, including Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois. Over the weekend, DJ Diesel came to the Seaport to entertain The Grand's crowd in Boston. Playing hip hop music alongside dubstep tunes, Shaq was judged to be an impressive disc jockey by many in attendance.

Also in the crowd were many Boston sports favorites, including the owner of the Celtics, Wyc Grousbeck, and Patriots defenders Devin and Jason McCourty.
