Sexual Harassment is a "top issue" for Jay Gonzalez, Dem. Candidate for Governor in Mass.
Boston, MA - Jay Gonzalez (D.) and Bob Massie (D.) are two gubernatorial hopefuls seeking to claim the title of Governor of Massachusetts. During a televised debate, the Democrats discussed a litany of topics from childcare to gender-based disparity to sexual harassment.
Gonzalez took a hardline approach to the latter topic, calling sexual harassment a "sickness in our culture," and stating it is a "top issue he would use the governor's bully pulpit ... to call attention to."
Also during the debate, both Gonzalez and Massie expressed a belief that it is within the role of government to address gender disparities - helping to improve the lack of women in executive-level jobs.
Gonzalez went on to emphasize how his government would deal with childcare and preschool expenses for families with young children. Gonzalez pointed out that while childcare costs in Massachusetts is the most expensive in America, it is usually women who end up having to leave their jobs when those expenses are incurred.
When the debate concluded, both candidates pledged to support their current Democratic opponent moving forward.
