Boston, MA - The Fourth of July is supposed to be an event of family, friends, patriotism, and of course the neighborhood BBQ. This year, like many before, this is not the only thing that occurred on what was meant to be a joyous holiday.
Five men were allegedly shot on this year’s Independence Day celebration in Boston, Massachusetts. Four out of five people were shot down the street from a 4th of July party, where many children were playing around outside. Of the four men that were shot yesterday evening, around 6:30 p.m., one adult male suffered from many life-threatening injuries on the scene.
When police officer William Evans arrived and investigated the scene, he reported back to the Boston folk that there had been an issue that turned into a fight at one of the houses in the area of Fayston Street on the night of the 4th of July. Supposedly, words were said to each person, and instead of using their fists to fight, they decided to pull out their guns and start shooting. Unfortunately, they started shooting near another party, where approximately 25 little kids were enjoying their day. As Evans put it, everyone is very lucky that no children were hurt in the crossfire.
After the shooting took place, and after the police officers arrived on the scene, the four men that were shot were rushed to the nearest hospital. Once they were all stabilized, the hospitals medical staff were able to conclude all injuries were taken care of, and all victims would make it out alive.
According to investigators, the incident may have had something to do with gangs.
After the scene calmed down a little bit from the shooting, another shooting occurred a little while after 10 p.m. the same night. If the neighborhood wasn’t frazzled enough, now it sure was. Investigators said the second shooting occurred only about half a mile away from the first shooting. Specifically, the shooting occurred in the area of Dacia Street and Brookford Avenue.
At this time, no additional information is available for the public regarding either shootings. As for the second shooting specifically, no additional information is being leaked at this time. In addition, names are not being released as of yet.
Both shootings will remain under investigation until the crime is solved. If they were gang related, police officers assure the public they will find out. If anyone has any additional information, please call the Boston police as soon as possible.
