BOSTON - With the end of the year comes a ton of news about the concerts that Massachusetts residents can expect to be coming to the state in 2020. A number of major headlining acts have already confirmed their presence in cities like Foxborough and Boston for the next summer, but there were still a few question marks in terms of tour scheduling and the state's most beloved musicians. After all, it is one thing to have Billy Joel, iconically associated with New York, come to Fenway Park for a record-breaking show. It is another to have some local favorites return to bring back the feeling of the Massachusetts music scene.
It seems like this will be the sentiments provided by James Taylor, a native of Boston who currently lives in Lenox, Massachusetts, as he has planned his return to Fenway Park in the summer of 2020, per NBC Boston.
The seventy-one year old announced that he will return to Fenway Park, where he has been the singer of the national anthem and the headliner for a number of concerts in the past, on June 21, 2020. Joining him will be his All-Star Band, as well as a featured act, Shawn Colvin, and a guest artist, Brandi Carlile. (She might be worth the price of admission alone.)
Tickets for Taylor's shows are already on sale, while the rest of his tour is expected to be announced in January. For now, we know he will at least be a big part of the Fenway Park summer concert series!
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Taylor is definitely one of the best and most famous musicians to hail from the Bay State. You probably know him best from his hit songs like, "You've Got a Friend" and "Fire and Rain." But he is also turned a few songs into covers that have become mostly associated with his own soft, folksy style of singing and guitar playing. Chief among these tunes include "Handy Man" and "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)."
If you have ever wanted a chance to see Taylor live, this is a great opportunity that you cannot pass up!
