Godzilla Is Taking Over Boston!

Boston, MA– The summer is almost here and with summer comes the annual summer blockbuster season for some of the biggest movie releases of the year. Avengers: Endgame has already blasted off to become the second highest grossing movie of all-time, and with it, the blockbuster season is upon us. Films like Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, The Lion King, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, and Toy Story 4 are expected to light up the hearts and imaginations of film fans, as well as the box office, but one particular summer blockbuster seems like it will be specifically lighting up Boston.

King Ghidorah lighting up Downtown from boston

One eagle-eyed Reddit user, u/krishf12, noticed that King Ghidorah, one of the antagonists in the forthcoming kaiju sequel film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, was scene electrifying downtown Boston with his lightning powers during a recent promotional clip for the film. Kaiju movies featuring Godzilla typically see two or more monsters battling each other while humans watch on helplessly, witnessing the destruction of a major metropolitan city. Apparently, one of the marquee battles in the new Godzilla movie is going to take place in our own beloved Boston. Another user, u/proch12, noticed another screenshot of Boston in the trailers.

Idk if you guys saw the trailer for the new Godzilla movie but it's Boston getting wrecked from boston

Of course, it would be sad to see Boston get destroyed like this, but perhaps there would be some silver linings to it. It might improve traffic and help the MBTA buses better make their scheduled stops, as long as the roads are not entirely destroyed. It might also destroy some of the obnoxious "Boston accent" themed signs from tourists that say utter nonsense like, "Pahk the cah in Hahvahd yahd."

Boston is no stranger to having movies set in the city. Films like Good Will Hunting, The Town, and The Departed are classic Boston films and they show off the city in unique ways with homegrown actors like Matt Damon leading the way. But now we will get to see Boston in a whole new cinematic light: from the angle of a disaster and kaiju destruction film, at the mercy of giant monsters with no regard for human life!
