Gardner, MA– Sanctuary Medicinals will open its Gardner shop for recreational marijuana sales starting today March 6, 2019, as reported in The Gardner News. They had previously opened for medical marijuana sales in November of 2018, and in January this year, they were granted their permit for recreational sales from the state’s Cannabis Control Commission. Last week they passed their sales-ready inspection, and CEO Jason Sidman says, “We couldn’t be more ready.”
As many recreational marijuana stores have had challenges accommodating the influx of customers on opening days, Sanctuary Medicinals has set up an appointment system through their website. Store visits are by appointment only, except for medical customers who do not need an appointment and who will receive priority over recreational customers. There is a slight price difference as well; medical marijuana is not subject to tax, while recreational cannabis sales are taxed at 20% in Gardner (6.25% state sales tax, 10.75% marijuana excise tax, plus a 3% local tax by the city of Gardner).
While Gardner Mayor Mark Hawke had campaigned against the legalization of recreational marijuana, he says that Sanctuary Medicinals has been a good neighbor and very collaborative in its interactions with the city. The cannabis shop has supplied a police detail to monitor and direct traffic in its parking lot, which includes 50 parking spaces. Hawke also points out the financial benefits of the shop’s opening in Gardner, which will provide revenues from sales tax as well as a commercial real estate tax.
Sanctuary Medicinals is hiring Patient Care Advisors at its Gardner and Woburn locations, as well as a Delivery Driver and Wet/Dry Trimmer for its Littleton cultivation facility. Cannabis products for sale by Sanctuary Medicinals include flowers, tinctures, oils, salves, patches, and various edible choices. You can browse their product offerings online.
Sanctuary Medicinals is located at 16 Pearson Blvd., Gardner, MA 01440. Their hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. They are in close proximity to a Wendy's, a KFC, and a Burger King.
