Boston, MA - Are you ax-cited that an ax-throwing bar will be coming to the Boston area sooner rather than later? I think most Boston residents are, and it might be time for you to jump on board, too.

Urban Axes, Boston area’s first ax-throwing bar, will be coming to Somerville on December 7, 2018. This chain originated in Philadelphia and we were lucky enough to be a part of its expansion. This specific bar has 4 arenas, with 4 targets in each. In total, this location will be able to hold anywhere from 100-120 people.

When Urban Axes first opens in Somerville, ax-throwers will have the option to order from a variety of sandwiches. The liquor license is on its way in, which means you won’t be able to get a drink immediately, but in the upcoming weeks, it will be possible. When the bar does open, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of beer, cider, wine, and cocktails.

I know what you’re thinking, mixing the words ax-throwing and alcohol together seems to be a pretty bad idea. Rest assured, there’s no reason to be highly concerned. Urban Axes is entirely safe, especially considering each session comes with a tutorial first hand. Basically, before you are able to aim an ax at its mark, you have to go through solid training first. Then, once you are throwing, you have to play by the rules. For instance, you will not be allowed to step passed a certain line when throwing and you will not be able to walk down the aisle to get your ax until the coach gives you permission to do so. A coach will be present all of the time to ensure that everyone follows all of the rules.
