Cambridge, MA - Iconic Cambridge eatery and gourmet shop to open on the Waterfront

Harvard Square has been a number of things over the past twenty years; but chiefly, subject to change. Where you could once expect to find some of the finest independent bookstores, greasy dives and record shops in the nation centralized in a four-block radius, you can now find yourself adrift in a bland sea of Shake Shacks, Qdobas and “boho chic” retailers catering to customers whose disposable income is equal their monthly rents.

Few things have remained a constant however; and one of them has always been Cardullo’s.

Since opening in 1950, Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe has always offered customers a vast expanse of wine, beer, chocolates and delicacies. But what most people remember above all is their deli.

Now, after almost seventy years of continuous business Cardullo’s has decided to expand. And where better to test its mettle than the now bustling Seaport district?

Offering many of the same classics as its parent location in Cambridge—such as charcuterie, the Caprese with prosciutto, and their own takes on Cubano and Iberian sandwiches—the Seaport location will also provide catering, as well as beer and wine delivery.

“This location is thriving with a community of residents and businesses who come to the Seaport for shopping, dining and more,” said co-owner Kim Wilson. “When we considered expanding our brand, it felt like the perfect fit to bring our rich legacy from one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods to one of its newest.”

But as any Cambridge resident will remind you, Cardullo’s isn’t just sandwiches and wine. In addition, they boast one of the finest selection of chocolates, teas, olive oil, artisan cheeses, jams, gift baskets and other pantry items in the greater Boston area. But unlike the Harvard Square location, Cardullo’s is introducing a small, hand-picked selection of craft spirits to its new second home.

And while the Seaport may rightfully be considered a contender for Boston’s “newest oldest” neighborhood, the deli and shop joins the ranks of Yo! Sushi, Aceituna, Tikkaway Grill and CHLOE as lunch time options for a quick, casual bite.

Opening on the same block as the recently relocated Boston headquarters of accounting titan PricewaterhouseCooper, Cardullo’s plans to offer regular wine, beer, cheese and chocolate tasting events in the near future.

Cardullo’s is located at 101 Seaport Blvd in Boston and is open Mon-Fri from 8 a.m.-9 p.m., 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit
