Boston, MA - When power problems caused a Blue Line train to abruptly shut down in the Harbor Tunnel, officials were forced to escort hundreds of passengers to safety, via the long tunnel. Police guided the stranded riders down the tracks until they were told to access an emergency exit near Maverick Street.
Some passengers documented the experience with photos from their camera phones, and one passenger contacted a spouse who posted a viral story to the internet.

The MBTA reportedly updated Blue Line commuters advising that a single line is being used for both directions in the tunnel. This is likely to slow commuting significantly. The MBTA is also reportedly supplementing this route with busses.
