$200,000 in Lottery Prizes about to Expire
Boston, MA– I don't know about you, but if I had won $100,000 from a lottery ticket, it wouldn't take me a year to claim it.
However, that's exactly what's happened. Twice.
According to reports by the Associated Press, there are two individuals who purchased Mass Cash lottery tickets last year in March 2018. Each person won $100,000 with those tickets, and they have yet to claim that money.
The first individual purchased the ticket at the Seekonk Stop & Shop, just outside of Providence, RI. They purchased the ticket on March 9, 2018, and must redeem their prize by March 8, 2018 or else it will expire. This means they only have TWO days left to redeem!
The second individual purchased their ticket at Friendly Farm, a grocery store in Framingham, MA, on March 24, 2018, and they have until March 22 of this year to claim it. That's over two weeks away, so we still have some hope for them.
So what happens if neither of these get claimed? Can one of us get the money? Does the lottery just keep it?
Turns out, it's not that dire. That money simply goes back into the lottery system, and can be used for other prizes. Perhaps it'll be spread out to make some smaller prizes a bit more lucrative than normal, or perhaps we'll just get another $100,000 prize.
I can't believe I'm having to say this, but if you end up winning the lottery anytime soon, make sure you claim your prize within ONE year! And if you buy a ticket, make sure to follow up to see if you won. Somebody's gonna win, right? Good luck to those two individuals who still have some time to claim, hopefully they are reading this article.
